Donated Gold Coin Brings $517,000

Heritage Auctions hosted the official sale at the just completed Central States Convention and the highlight coin of the sale was the 1866 $20 Gold with Motto in NGC PR65 Cameo with a Gold CAC sticker which brought $517,000. This is one of two certified in PR65 by NGC (PCGS has certified two as well). With just 30 minted originally it is estimated that there are only 14-16 survivors today. An important side note, the proceeds will help build a new GracePoint Church; an anonymous lady donated the $20 Gold coin just in time to guarantee a loan for the building fund.

One of the other highlights of this sale was the rare 1776 Continental Dollar CURENCY, Pewter, certified by NGC as MS63. The Continental Dollar always attracts the advanced collector and this one brought $108,688. Below are some of the other highlights of this sale.
