Gardner Collection Now Over $47 Million

May 18, 2015

Part III of the Eugene H. Gardner Collection sale is now in the books with this portion realizing $13.78 million. That brings the total of the three sessions to over $47 million, and there is still one auction to come. However, this is not just any coin collection; it is one that was meticulously planned out over a long period of time. The previous sessions included a number of important rarities and this latest sale was no different.

One of the obvious highlights was the 1838 O Reeded Edge Half Dollar from the Eliasberg Collection, certified by NGC as PR64. This coin also has the CAC approval and it realized $646,250.

Several of the Proof 70 dates have also been on the rise as buyers have been aggressively pursuing these perfect coins.
